Ok, this is an update.
I cheated and had to look at other finished art for flame reference. My favorite flame ever was done by Dean White on my Fantastik Four 1602 cover so I used that as in inspiration. still, this pales in comparison but a bit better than the first preview I posted... which looks like crap.
this is basically how the finished art will look like but I will take a few more hours tightening and tidying this up and adding more visual flairs.
yeah, inked art will always look more awesome.... but for covers, I do like pencils only like my Silent Dragon covers as well as High Roads as it makes for a bit more
"painterly" feel yet still be essentially line art. Inked work will always look cartoony unless you color over the inked lines (which will piss of inkers). Also, it's been a year now since I have to worry about fed-ex/shipping deadlines which is a great relief for me. I can work at my own pace, anytime I want.... not rush the pages for the 12 noon cutoff.
New Avengers 22 was pretty Dark but there is a way to color it that all pencils lines will show. I think Dave McCaigs' colors on CHOOSING SIDES is closer to what I want in that all hatches can be seen yet it still is moody I still think Dave could go lighter.... like his colors on Birthright for example....

I like work that just moves, the clean line work is overrated, today, some artist depend to much on color to do the work for them. yours moves with energy and that is so refreshing.

We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
