Wolvie marker on Canson Paper by leinilyu Wolvie marker on Canson Paper by leinilyu
yeah, I've done this a hundred times. same shot, I know.

Marker (copics) practice on Canson Comic book art board. pricey but recommened! great for pencils inks and even markers.

trial and error. experimented with all sorts of hues. skintones include light blues, greens and pinks. as well as copic skintone colors.

does the paper use up the ink quickly? cause i just got a stack and it feels like it's going to soak up my markers pretty quickly.

Are you leaving the white areas blank and using a white pencil for detailing?
Reply
:iconleinilyu:
leinilyu Featured By Owner Nov 5, 2011
that would be very ideal... but no, you can just add the whites later. easier that way.

So how did you to that white areas? Because it does look like you left it blank and used different skin tones markers. I am looking at right about the left eye. I didn't think copic white markers would mark over darker colors...

I try to leave out white stiff but it's not always feasible. If I accidentally cover it up with color, I just come back with a white out pen. It's not a copic brand pen. I use a sakura gelly roll or a uniball signo.

they are basically white outs. I love gelly rolls cause you can color over them with copics. that way, you don't always have to have white highlights.

Interesting, I will have to check those out then. I took a marker class for my animation degree and really enjoyed it but I haven't used my markers in a while. I prefer to use them for gray scale and paint my art in PS. Thanks for the correspondence.

This looks amazing man. I'm not a fan of Canson's board. Too much tooth for me. LOVE how you used the blues and greens in the skintone too. Wish to god I could make my stuff look that fluid and not forced when it comes to various color choices.

Marvel paper is just as toothy or even toothier. hehe. I guess my hand muscles are used to the texture.

Im buying my own paper for creator-owned stuff from now on.

on colors, some luck involved. hehe. and just do small areas first. if color is off, then just color over it.

That's info that's good to know. I'm so used to the smoother surface. I have something else to try out now.

Coloring wise... yeah, you make it sound so easy bro lol. Looking forward to trying a few things now.

Thanks for the advice Leinil!

holy crap. Wow. I see that Wolvie's face has a very subtle white outline... did you use a white pen for this? If so, what kind of pen was it?

:iconleinilyu:

I use a white Gelly roll or a y&c gel extreme 7. basically, any white ink ballpoint pen.
